Botox®
Botox® is an injectable derived from the botulinum toxin. It works my temporarily paralyzing the muscles it is injected into by blocking the nerve signals that cause the muscles to move.
Botox® injections are FDA approved for a number of medical & cosmetic purposes. Medically, the injections can treat migraines, excessive sweating, muscle spasms, & overactive bladder. Cosmetically, Botox® treats fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions.
At the Aesthetic Edit, we treat the following:

Pre-Botox®
Prior to your appointment at the Aesthetic Edit, it is important to follow a few rules.
- 3-5 days prior stop taking all blood thinning medications (NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, warfarin, etc.
- No alcohol or excessive exercise 24 hours prior.
- Stay well hydrated.
Day of Botox®
- Arrive to your appointment with a clean face (no make-up, lotions, etc.).
- Avoid skincare active that day including retinols.
- Avoid heavy caffeine.
- Eat something beforehand if you typically become queasy or uneasy around needles.
Post-Botox®
Your post-Botox® instructions are just as important as the procedure itself! This ensures that you are getting the most out of your treatment!
- Stay upright for 1 hour.
- Avoid touching, rubbing, & massaging the treated area(s).
- For 24 hours avoid alcohol, exercise, make-up, skincare, saunas, & excessive heat exposure.
- For 2 weeks avoid facials, chemical peels, & microneedling.
